To edit the copyright go to the folder "Src" and open the file XF.php file with notepad ++ and on line 722 you will see this:

return '<a href="XenForo.com" class="u-concealed" dir="ltr">Forum software by XenForo&trade; <span class="copyright">&copy;2010-2017 XenForo Ltd.</span></a>';

editing XF.php will show error.

It indeed gives an error "unexpected content" but with your option, you totally show no copyright. So I would go for the first one and ignore the error message (Is only shown in admin area)

You can also remove it from the template_modifications.xml. Then remove template_modifications.xml from the hashes.json so ydon'tont get hit by the file check.
